SMART TIPS JOIN FITNESS CENTER

Generally maintain the vitality of the main target for most people, and one way to get them to join the center or fitness club.

But as with other payments, there are things that need to be aware and smart way to protect yourself if you decide to get a membership.

Ontario Ministry of Consumer Services offers a number of lists to help consumers know their rights and make smart choices when joining all kinds of clubs or the club's facilities-based pre-paid or fitness classes.

• Do a little research. Make sure the new fitness equipment or in good condition, location and hours of service are quite good, qualified instructors, and clubs in a clean condition.

• Visit a fitness class or club at a later time you will choose. Should not be too full with no room to move, well do not be so empty because the class may be canceled.

• Ask the opinion of other members.

• Read the membership agreement memorandum carefully and ask questions before signing. For example, if the necessary fitness tests join? Is there an additional fee for the exam?

• In Ontario, the consumer has to decide the period (cooling-off period) within 10 days to reconsider their decision after signing a gym membership.

• Do not apply more than one year. Lifetime membership is illegal in Ontario.

• Choose to pay monthly. A fitness center should offer monthly payment options. That way, members will not lose more than a month payment if the club closes.

• If you cancel the gym membership, do so in writing. Present yourself or send a cancellation letter by registered post to ensure clubs receive.

According to the Ontario government's website, more than 5.3 million Canadian fitness club members in 2010, and last year there were more than 6,200 fitness clubs that operate in Canada.
